Privacy Policy
Record My · Version 1.0 · Effective October 30, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Record My - the screen and camera recorder for Mac distributed by MAHTCA GLOBAL (the “developer,” “we,” or “us”) through Apple’s App Store - handles your information. It is provided alongside the Record My Terms of Use and End User License Agreement (the “Terms”), which control in the event of any inconsistency.
We do not collect, receive, or store your recordings, your camera image, your microphone sound, or any information about you through Record My. Because your recordings exist only on your Mac and wherever you choose to keep them, and deleting a recording from Record My’s library is permanent, keep a copy of every important recording and regular backups - we cannot recover anything for you.
1. The Short Version
Record My does not collect, transmit, sell, rent, share, host, analyze, profile, or store your recordings, camera footage, sound, projects, exports, their content, identifiers, usage data, or telemetry on servers controlled by us. What you record from your screen, camera, and microphone is captured and processed on your Mac, and camera background effects run on your Mac. We have no servers that receive your content, no account system, no third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or tracking components, and we do not train any model on your data.
The only network activity of Record My is its use of Apple’s App Store services for purchases. To work, Record My keeps a few things on your Mac, such as your recordings library, your preferences, and your purchase status. Section 4 describes them.
2. Who This Policy Applies To
This Privacy Policy applies to the Record My application for macOS as distributed through Apple’s App Store, including its Quick Look preview extension, and to any in-app purchase or subscription offered in it. Section 9 also describes this website and what happens when you contact us. This policy does not cover Apple’s services - such as the App Store, your Apple Account, Continuity Camera, or iCloud - which are governed by Apple’s own privacy policies, nor any third-party app, device, or service you choose to use with Record My, including the meeting, streaming, and upload services you record or share recordings to.
3. Data We Collect - None
For the purposes of Apple’s App Privacy framework, Record My declares “Data Not Collected” in every category. We do not collect contact information, health or financial information, location, sensitive information, contacts, user content (including your recordings, camera image, audio, projects, and exports), browsing or search history, identifiers, purchases, usage data, diagnostics, or any other data through Record My. The information Record My keeps on your Mac, described below, is not received, accessed, or held by us, and is therefore not “collected” by us.
4. What Record My Keeps on Your Mac
To work, Record My keeps certain information on your Mac. Most of it is inside Record My’s own data folder; your purchase status is also kept in your Mac’s keychain. None of it is transmitted to us.
(a) Your recordings library. Each recording you make is kept in Record My’s library on your Mac, as a video file, a preview image, and a small file that describes it, such as its date, duration, and settings. A recording contains what was on the area, window, or display you recorded, your camera image if you recorded a camera, and the sound you chose to record from your microphone or your Mac. A recording made with several sources, such as your screen and a camera, is kept as one clip per source, together with its layout. For recordings of your screen with a camera, Record My also keeps the path of the pointer during the recording, which is used to move or hide the camera away from the pointer. Record My reads the creation dates of its own recordings to sort the library. Recordings stay in the library until you delete them; deletion is permanent.
(b) Videos, exports, and projects you save. Videos made with Save Video, exports, and Record My projects (“.rmy” files) are saved where you choose. A project contains your edits, annotations, and layout, a preview image showing a frame of your recording, and a reference to the location of the recording it was made from, which may include the name of a folder on your Mac. The Finder can show a project’s preview image and details such as its duration and size. Anyone you send a project to can see that information.
(c) Preferences. Your settings and choices, such as your recording and sound options, editor preferences, and whether you have completed the welcome tour.
(d) Purchase status. A record of what the App Store last confirmed about Record My Ultra, which lets Ultra keep working for a limited time while you are offline, as described in Section 20 of the Terms, is kept in your Mac’s keychain. It carries an integrity code so that a changed record is not trusted. It contains no name, email address, Apple Account, or payment details. Because the keychain is outside Record My’s data folder, this record may remain on your Mac when you delete Record My.
To remove what Record My keeps, delete your recordings in Record My (for example with Clean Up ▸ Delete All), delete any videos, exports, and projects you saved, then quit Record My and delete its data folder (Library ▸ Containers ▸ com.mahtca.app.macos.Record-My in your home folder); deleting the Record My app alone may leave this folder in place. Copies may remain in your backups, such as Time Machine, and in any app or service you shared them with.
5. Processing on Your Mac
Record My captures and processes what you record from your screen, camera, and microphone on your Mac. Camera background effects - blurring, removing, or replacing the background behind a person - separate the person from their surroundings on your Mac, using technology built into macOS. Editing, annotating, rendering, and exporting also run on your Mac. Record My has no generative artificial-intelligence features and does not recognize, identify, or analyze the people, text, or other content in your recordings. None of this sends your recordings to us.
6. Permissions and File Access
macOS asks for your permission before Record My can use your screen, camera, or microphone, and Record My asks only when a feature needs it: (a) Screen Recording, required to record your screen and the sound your Mac plays, requested during the welcome tour if you choose to allow it there, or when you first record your screen; (b) Camera, requested only when you use a camera, for example to show a camera preview while you set up a recording or to record your camera, including an iPhone you use as a camera through Continuity Camera; and (c) Microphone, requested only when you choose to record sound from your microphone. Record My uses these permissions only for the recordings you start and the previews you open. You can change or revoke them at any time in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security.
Record My reads and writes its own library, and the files you choose through the Open and Save dialogs or open from the Finder. It does not request access to your location, contacts, calendars, reminders, photo library, Bluetooth, or accessibility features, and it does not use an advertising identifier or track you across apps or websites.
Record My does not connect to any server operated by us. Its only network activity is its use of Apple’s App Store services for purchases, restoring purchases, and confirming your purchase status from time to time. Links in Record My, such as those to the Terms, to this Privacy Policy, and to manage your subscription, open in your web browser.
7. What Apple May Process (Not Us)
Some operations involve Apple’s services, where Apple - not MAHTCA GLOBAL - processes information under Apple’s own terms and privacy policy: (a) in-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple, which is the merchant of record; Record My receives on your Mac only the signed records it needs to confirm what you have purchased, such as the product and its purchase, renewal, or expiry dates, and we do not receive your name, email address, Apple Account, or payment details; (b) Ask to Buy is provided by Apple; (c) if you have chosen in macOS to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide us with crash reports and diagnostic information about Record My, which are designed not to identify you and are not intended to contain your recordings - you control this setting in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Analytics & Improvements; (d) App Store analytics provide us with aggregated statistics that do not identify you; and (e) Continuity Camera, iCloud Drive, and device backups are Apple services governed by your Apple settings and Apple’s policies.
8. No Third-Party Services
Record My is built only with Apple’s own technologies. It does not include analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, attribution, social-login, tracking, fingerprinting, or behavioural-profiling components, and it does not communicate with any servers operated by MAHTCA GLOBAL. We do not use your recordings, your camera image, your voice, or any other data to train artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models, our own or anyone else’s.
9. This Website and Contacting Us
This website, recordmy.mahtca.com, does not use cookies, analytics, advertising, or tracking. It stores nothing on your device. The Mac App Store badge on this website is loaded from Apple’s servers, so Apple receives that request under its own privacy policy. Like most websites, this website is served by a hosting provider whose servers may keep standard technical logs - such as IP addresses, the pages requested, and the date and time - for security and operation; we do not use them to identify or profile visitors.
If you email us, for example at recordmy@mahtca.com or office@mahtca.com, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include, and we use them only to answer you and to handle your request, including any legal claim. We keep that correspondence only as long as needed for those purposes or as required by law, and we do not use it for marketing. Please do not send us recordings or personal data that we do not need to help you; if you send a recording to show a problem, hide any personal data in it first.
10. Privacy Roles
Because MAHTCA GLOBAL never sees or holds your recordings, we do not act as a “controller” or “processor” of their content within the meaning of the EU General Data Protection Regulation, the UK GDPR, or equivalent laws. When you use Record My to record, edit, or share content - including recordings that show or contain personal data about you or other people, such as their faces, voices, names, messages, or screens - you determine the purposes and means of that processing on your own device, and you are responsible for handling that data lawfully, including informing the people you record and obtaining any consent the law requires, as described in the Acceptable Use Policy. MAHTCA GLOBAL is the controller only of the correspondence you send us and of the operation of this website, as described in Section 9.
11. Children
Record My is a general-audience app; it is not designed specifically for children, and it has no account and no chat or messaging features. You must be at least 13 years old to use Record My on your own, or older where your country requires; anyone younger, or under the age of majority, may use Record My only with the consent and under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian, as described in Section 11 of the Terms. Purchases go through the App Store, where a parent can require approval with Apple’s Ask to Buy. We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children; because nothing is transmitted to us from Record My, there is no children’s data for us to hold, delete, or report. If you record a child, you are responsible for doing so lawfully and with the consent of a parent or guardian where required.
12. International Users
Record My is available through Apple’s App Store. Because your recordings do not leave your Mac to reach us, no transfer of your content takes place between you and MAHTCA GLOBAL. You remain subject to the data-protection and recording laws of your country of residence, and possibly of the countries of the people you record, in your own use of Record My, including any obligations you owe to people whose personal data appears in your recordings.
13. Your Rights
Because your information stays on your Mac, you exercise control over it directly: you can view, export, or delete your recordings; delete the videos, exports, and projects you saved; change your preferences; and delete Record My and its data folder, as described in Section 4. Because MAHTCA GLOBAL holds no personal data of yours from Record My, we are generally unable to act on requests to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, or object to the processing of that data, as the data does not exist on our systems. If you appear in a recording made by someone else, please contact the person who made it; we have no access to it. If you have written to us, you may ask us to access, correct, or delete that correspondence, subject to any legal obligation to keep it. If you believe a data-protection right has been infringed by MAHTCA GLOBAL, contact office@mahtca.com. In Romania, you may also lodge a complaint with the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP, www.dataprotection.ro); elsewhere, with your local supervisory authority.
14. Security
Record My’s access to your Mac is limited by protections enforced by macOS, and because we have no servers that hold your recordings, there is no server-side copy of your content to attack. The purchase-status record carries an integrity code so that a changed record is not trusted, and the information Record My keeps on your Mac is protected by your macOS user account; we recommend a strong login password and FileVault. Recordings often contain personal and confidential information: anyone who can use your macOS user account can open Record My and view your library, and anyone who receives a recording, export, or project can view its content. You are responsible for securing your Mac, keeping macOS up to date, maintaining backups, and controlling who can access your Mac and your recordings. If we become aware of a security issue in Record My that could affect you, we will publish a fix through the App Store and, where required by law, notify the relevant authorities.
15. Backups and Data Loss
Record My cannot guarantee that your recordings, projects, or exports will be captured completely or preserved. Crashes, power failures, full disks, disconnected devices, and other interruptions can damage or destroy recordings; deleting a recording from the library, retaking, discarding, or removing the last five seconds is permanent; projects do not contain their recordings; and we hold no copy from which anything could be recovered. Keep a copy of every important recording and regular backups, as described in Sections 2 to 6 of the Terms.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in Record My, applicable law, Apple’s requirements, or our practices. When we do, the version number and effective date change, and the updated policy is published at recordmy.mahtca.com/privacy/, which is the authoritative version. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will use reasonable efforts to inform you before it takes effect. If you do not accept an update, your remedy is to stop using and delete Record My.
