How to Record Your Screen and Webcam in Record My

  1. Open Screen + Camera

Click “Start Recording” in the main window (⌘R) or choose “Start Recording…” from the menu bar. In “Choose what to record”, click the “Screen + Camera” tile.

  2. Pick Your Screen and Camera

Under “Screen”, choose the display to record, and use the “Capture” row if you want a window or an area instead. Under “Camera Overlay”, turn on the switch for your camera.

  3. Place Yourself in the Preview

The “Preview” shows your shot with a red “Live” dot. Drag the camera to place it, then set its “Shape”, “Size” and “Zoom”, or mirror it like a selfie view.

  4. Set the Recording Options

Under “Recording”, choose a “Frame rate” and your “Sound”. Keep “Show camera on screen while recording” on to see the bubble as you work.

  5. Record and Direct the Bubble

Click “Start Recording”. Drag the floating bubble to move it, drag its corner knob to resize it, or click the eye button to hide it. The badge reads “Hidden from video” until you show it again.

  6. Stop and Fine-Tune

Click “Stop” in the recording bar and your take opens in the Motion Editor, where every move is a keyframe on the camera’s lane and every hide is a span you can change.

A Camera You Can See While You Record

The bubble floats over your screen exactly where it will appear in the video. Slide it out of the way when you open a menu, make it larger for a personal moment, or tuck it away entirely. Nothing is locked in.

The recording bar keeps it simple during a camera session: “REC”, the timer, “Stop” and ✕. Your focus stays on what you’re showing.

Shape It All Afterwards

In the editor, click your camera on the video, on its lane, or on its card in “Sources” to see the camera modules. From there you can:

  • Change the look with “Circle”, “Rounded”, “Squircle” or “Rectangle”, plus “Shadow” and “Border”.
  • Blur, remove or recolor the room with “Behind You”.
  • Switch layouts with Scenes, or animate your camera with keyframes.
  • Let the camera “Fade” or “Step Aside” for your pointer with “Smart auto-hide”.

Questions

Can I use my iPhone as the camera?

Yes. Your iPhone appears in the setup window’s camera list as you connect it, as “iPhone · main” or “iPhone · Desk View (top-down)”. See using your iPhone as a webcam.

Does my voice get recorded too?

Pick “Mic”, “System” or “Both” under “Sound” before you start. In a Screen + Camera session, the sound is recorded with the screen.

What if I placed the camera in the wrong spot?

Every move, resize and hide becomes an edit. In the editor, change keyframes on the camera’s lane, or use “Placement” to snap it to a corner, an edge or the center.

You can do this with Record My on your Mac.
