How to Use Your iPhone as a Camera in Record My
Open the Setup Window
Click “Start Recording” and choose “Screen + Camera” in “Choose what to record”. To record only your camera, choose “Camera” instead.
Find Your iPhone in the List
Look under “Camera Overlay”. Your iPhone shows up as a row such as “iPhone · main”. New cameras appear in this window as they connect, so there is nothing to refresh.
Switch It On
Turn on the switch beside your iPhone. A live thumbnail appears in the row, and the camera joins your shot in the “Preview”, marked with a red “Live” dot.
Place and Shape Your Camera
Drag the camera in the “Preview” to where you want it. Choose a “Shape”, a “Size” and a “Zoom”, then rotate or mirror the picture if you like.
Start Recording
Check your “Frame rate” and “Sound” under “Recording”, then press “Start Recording”. Your iPhone camera floats over the screen as you record.
Show Your Desk From Above
Desk View turns your iPhone into an overhead camera. It is ideal for sketches, hardware, handwriting and anything you make with your hands.
Switch on the row “iPhone · Desk View (top-down)”. A callout appears: “Desk View shows your desk from above”. The “Open Desk View…” button sits right in that callout. Desk View joins your shot as a rounded card, so your desk reads clearly next to your screen.
More Than One Camera
Every camera gets its own switch, so you can record your face from “iPhone · main” and your desk from Desk View in the same take. With “Camera”, the first camera fills the frame and any others float over it.
- Move, resize or hide the live bubble as you record. See moving your camera.
- Afterwards, blur or remove the room in “Behind You”. See webcam backgrounds.
- Switch layouts with “Scenes”. See picture in picture.
