How to Trim and Speed Up a Recording in Record My
Open the Recording
Press “Stop” to open the editor right away, or click any row under “RECENT RECORDINGS” in the main window. See finding your recordings.
Trim the Start and the End
Drag the left handle on the filmstrip to where the action begins, and the right handle to where it ends. The filmstrip shows the clip length as you drag.
Set the Speed
In the Studio panel, open “Output” and choose a “Speed”: “0.25×”, “0.5×”, “1×”, “1.5×” or “2×”. Keep “1×” to keep your sound in the export.
Line Up Your Camera
In a camera recording, drag the camera’s lane to move it in time, and drag its edges to trim it. Or select the camera and use “Timing” to nudge it by a frame or a second.
Export or Save Your Project
Click “Export” and choose a format, or click “Save Project” to keep every edit and come back later.
More in the “Output” Module
Speed is just the start. “Output” shapes the final file, and “Result” shows its pixels, duration and frames as you go.
- “Frame rate”: “15 fps”, “30 fps” or “60 fps”.
- “Scale”: “100%”, “75%” or “50%” for a lighter file.
- “Resolution”: “Auto”, “480p”, “720p”, “1080p” or “4K”.
- “Loop”: for clips that play on repeat.
Precise Timing for Every Camera
In camera recordings, each source gets its own lane. The “Timing” module shows when the camera starts and ends, with nudges for “1 s earlier”, “1 frame earlier”, “1 frame later” and “1 s later”. “With Screen” lines it up with your screen, and “To Playhead” moves it to the current moment.
Trim and speed are always in your hands. Drag a handle back or pick another speed whenever you like. The undo and redo buttons at the top-left of the preview cover annotations and camera, scene and layout edits.

Questions
Does trimming change my original recording?
No. Your recording stays in Record My’s library on your Mac, and trimming shapes what you export. “Save Video” still saves the original recording as a .mov.
Will my sound play when I speed up a video?
Sound is kept at “1×”. For narration in your export, leave “Speed” at “1×”. For a silent, sped-up demo, “1.5×” and “2×” are ready.
Can I trim a recording made without Ultra?
Yes. Any recording in your library opens in the editor. Trim, speed and the other edits are part of Record My Ultra.
You can do this with Record My on your Mac.
